Stretching:
Muscles love to be stretched and during your massage is the perfect opportunity to stretch them. During massage, the muscles are warm and are receptive to stretching. Stretching is important in injury prevention and recovery. When a muscle is torn and injured, its resting length usually shortens. This shortening causes a reduction in range of motion, which can have a chain reaction in other areas of the body, changing the way you walk or body alignment. These slight adjustments can cause a nagging ache to a serious amount of pain. Massage and stretching can reduce and improve these disorders.
Also, stretching increases flexibility, range of motion, improves circulation, improves posture, relieves stress and can increase endurance and metabolism.
There is a common expression in life — "what we don't use may fuse." This certainly applies when it comes to stretching the body. Massage and stretching go hand in hand.
Kinesio Taping:
Kinesio Taping is a treatment used to improve muscle function and alleviate pain, swelling and inflammation. Unlike traditional taping techniques, which are used to restrict mobility, Kinesio tape is designed to move comfortably with the body while dramatically reducing the pain of the injury. It mimics the elasticity of the skin and is woven to allow for body moisture evaporation while also being water resistant. These unique qualities allow the patient to wear the tape comfortably for up to three to five days before the effectiveness wears off.
If you are suffering from muscular injuries or pain, the use of the Kinesio tape will help reduce the probability of you developing inflammation, edema, and other types of discomfort.
Some of the benefits of seeking/using this type of method are:
- Normalization of muscle function
- Improvement of lymphatic and blood flow
- Reduction of pain
- Correction of joint misalignments
- Reduction of Plantar Fasciitis pain
- Reduction of lymphedema
Each session lasts 15-30 minutes and includes consultation, assessment, and taping of the target area. This can be incorporated into a regular massage session as an add-on for $25. Myofascial Therapy:
Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, skin, and muscles, with the goal of eliminating pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial release usually involves applying sheer compression or tension in various directions, or by skin rolling.
Cupping Therapy
What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping is a treatment where a practitioner places special suction cups on a client's prepped oiled skin that create suction to facilitate healing. This treatment is cohesive with a regular massage treatment, which makes it a great add-on to your massage session.
What are the benefits of cupping therapy?
What cupping could do for you:
- Improve blood flow
- Improve immunity by increasing lymphatic output
- Reduce inflammation
- Calm the nervous system
- Stretch muscles and connective tissue
- Loosen restrictions and adhesions in the tissue
- Provide relaxation
- Optimize athletic performance
- Improve overall wellbeing
Rock Blading:
Rock Blades are tools used to break up myofascial adhesions and muscle restrictions, causing the client lack of mobility or pain from injury, repetitive movements, post surgical trauma and scar tissue.
These tools are made of stainless steel and resin that can withstand pressure. However strong may appear, the therapist will not have to use a lot of force. It's more of a gentle scraping or feathering action to help push blood and lymph thru the tissue to create better circulation, mobility and reduce pain.
While these blades look intimidating, I am frequently asked, "will it hurt?" I would describe it more uncomfortable at first but as the tissue responds to the treatment and blood flow is restored, there is usually less to zero pain.
What conditions are Rock Blades used for?
- Chronic pain
- Soreness from your workouts or overuse
- Knots in the muscles along your neck/upper back
- Stiffness or limitations with active range of motion
- Carpal Tunnel syndrome
- Plantar fasciitis
- Trochanteric bursitis
- Hip pain
- Neck tension
Aromatherapy:
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to help balance and heal the body, mind, and emotions. Allow your therapist to add specific essential oils to your massage oil blend that can give you relief based on what currently ails you. Aromatherapy is a very powerful modality that has been known to help eliminate a headache, ease allergies, and calm the mind and body. Can be added to any massage (except warm bamboo) for an additional $15.
