RX Massage:
The benefit of massage is receiving greater recognition in the medical field. Doctors and other medical specialist are recommending deep tissue and relaxation massage as an alternative to some medications and treatments to help their patients recover a more “normal” active lifestyle. Also, a lot of ASA and HSA are allowing RX massage sessions to be covered thru their plan. You must have a doctor's medical script and a detailed receipt of service from a licensed medical massage therapist. This information is turned into the ASA/HSA by you, the client. Once approved, you can use your ASA/HSA account for payment of your massage services. This saves you on the cost of your massage treatment and paying extra sales tax. Contact your insurance provider or ASA/HSA for further information. You can find a medical script form on my site (click the clip board). Take this form to your doctor or have them complete one from their office. I would need to have a copy on file before the discount is offered.

Service Description:

Swedish Massage:
The most commonly offered and best known type of massage. If this is your first massage, Swedish is the best place to start. Ideal for stress reduction, this is most often referred to as "relaxation" massage.

"Ashi" means "feet," and "atsu" means "pressure."  Using an overhead bar system, Ashiatsu provides soothing strokes that are applied to all areas of the back.  The entire massage is performed by the therapist's feet.  This deep pressure massage milks the muscles and releases toxins.  Guaranteed to induce deep relaxation, relieve tight muscles, and stimulate the body's own self-healing capabilities.

Muscles love to be stretched and during your massage is the perfect opportunity to stretch them. During massage, the muscles are warm and are receptive to stretching. Stretching is important in injury prevention and recovery. When a muscle is torn and injured, its resting length usually shortens. This shortening causes a reduction in range of motion, which can have a chain reaction in other areas of the body, changing the way you walk or body alignment.  These slight adjustments can cause a nagging ache to a serious amount of pain.  Massage and stretching can reduce and improve these disorders.

Also, stretching increases flexibility, range of motion, improves circulation, improves posture, relieves stress and can increase endurance and metabolism.

There is a common expression in life — "what we don't use may fuse."  This certainly applies when it comes to stretching the body.  Massage and stretching go hand in hand.

Kinesio Taping:
Plantar Fasciitis Kinesio TapingKinesio Taping is a treatment used to improve muscle function and alleviate pain, swelling and inflammation. Unlike traditional taping techniques, which are used to restrict mobility, Kinesio tape is designed to move comfortably with the body while dramatically reducing the pain of the injury. It mimics the elasticity of the skin and is woven to allow for body moisture evaporation while also being water resistant. These unique qualities allow the patient to wear the tape comfortably for up to three to five days before the effectiveness wears off.

If you are suffering from muscular injuries or pain, the use of the Kinesio tape will help reduce the probability of you developing inflammation, edema, and other types of discomfort.

Shoulder Kinesio TapingSome of the benefits of seeking/using this type of method are:

  • Normalization of muscle function
  • Improvement of lymphatic and blood flow
  • Reduction of pain
  • Correction of joint misalignments
  • Reduction of Plantar Fasciitis pain
  • Reduction of lymphedema

Each session lasts 15-30 minutes and includes consultation, assessment, and taping of the target area.  This can be incorporated into a regular massage session as an add-on for $15.

Myofascial Therapy:
Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, skin, and muscles, with the goal of eliminating pain and increasing range of motion.  Myofascial release usually involves applying sheer compression or tension in various directions, or by skin rolling.

Warm Bamboo TherapyWarm Bamboo Therapy:
Warm Bamboo Therapy is a new, relaxing form of massage that combines the techniques of Swedish massage and the benefits of soothing heat with the invigorating energy of bamboo and rattan. The bamboo is heated with an electric pad and used to literally roll and knead away the aches and pains of everyday stress.

Craniosacral Therapy:
A craniosacral session involves gentle, hands-on pressure to evaluate and encourage the function of your craniosacral system. This system is the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that protect and surround your spinal cord and brain. By listening to, and working with, the skull and its sutures, spine, diaphragms and fascia, restrictions unwind and the nervous system is eased. Craniosacral works with your body's own healing processes to increase the body's overall well-being and resistance to disease. Craniosacral work is effective in helping with TMJ dysfunction, headaches, neck and back pain, fatigue, eye problems, motor coordination, ADD, depression, and a variety of other conditions.

Happy Hands/Happy Feet:
This type of massage is more detailed, with attention given to either (or both) the hands or the feet. This therapy incorporates heat therapy with paraffin, aromatherapy with essential oils, and reflexology. Client will remain clothed, allowing the therapist to work on the hands and feet. Can be given in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute sessions.

Thai on the Table:
Thai on the Table is a fully-clothed Thai massage done on the massage table and without the use of oil. Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because the therapist uses her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai massage is like doing yoga without any work. Muscle compression, joint mobilization and acupressure are also used during treatment. At Peace Massage & Wellness - Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to help balance and heal the body, mind, and emotions. Allow your therapist to add specific essential oils to your massage oil blend that can give you relief based on what currently ails you. Aromatherapy is a very powerful modality that has been known to help eliminate a headache, ease allergies, and calm the mind and body. Can be added to any massage (except warm bamboo) for an additional $10.
